I don’t know how I’m supposed to start this blog post. Excited eeee! Last night, there were ocean of ideas entering my mind on what I should tell here due to excitement of finally seeing and hearing the songs of my favorite boy band live here in Manila.
I can’t find words to describe my feelings last night joining thousands of fans gathered at Araneta Coliseum to welcome tian tian, makoy and bentoy. Who am I talking about here? Who are tian-tian, makoy and bentoy? Sounds familiar? Guesses please! Nah, they are not Filipinos. They adopted Filipino names that are downright cute and suited them really. Hahaha. You want to know who these charming, such cuties and talented Tian-tian, Makoy and Bentoy are? Drum roll please! Hahaha. No other than Christian Ingebrigtsen (Tian-tian), Mark Read (Makoy) and Ben Adams (Bentoy) of A1! *insert fan girl scream!
A1 first visited Philippines way back 2004 (not sure about this). I was only a high school student then who quickly fell to their charm and sweet music. Listening to their songs made every single girl living feel that they are being serenaded, no, more on being pursued by these charming British guys. Same goes for me. Pak!
Let me insert here a super a1 fan experience okay? Hahaha. I just can’t help telling people how I love a1 since my high school years and the crazy things I did to prove my love for them. May ganon?! Hahaha.
When a1 had their first concert here as I said I was just a high school student. I was a poor high school student who can’t even afford to support her favorite boy band by buying their albums. Huhuhu. I can only fill up my craving for them by watching their music videos on MYX. It was accessible for me to learn about new song releases back then because we have cable TV. Today, we don’t have cable TV anymore. Also my interest in music lessened since boy bands slowly disappeared in the music scene. It took me only last year fondly involving myself again with music through the help of K-pop. Nowadays, I listen more on Korean songs more than English songs because I am certified K-pop fan. Hahaha.
Though these days I attend more to my K-pop craving, also because K-pop is the trend these days, I must say that 90’s boy bands are my first love. Westlife, backstreet boys, boyzone, savage garden, 98 degrees and most especially A1 were the firsts to capture my heart. Hahahaha. My adolescent days were extra special and full of memories involving these 90’s boy bands.
Last night, watching A1 perform their signature dance moves and sing their greatest hits in front of their many fans, including me, brought back so many memories to every single person present in the concert hall. Girls, gays and even guys? Yes definitely, can’t help giggling and screaming when A1 finally showed themselves after the long wait and started singing their popular songs such as Caught in the Middle, Same Old Brand New You, Be the First to Believe, Summertime of Our Lives. They didn’t miss any of their popular hits including Heaven By Your Side, No more, One More Try, Ready or Not, Take on Me, last but not the least Like A rose and even introduced songs from their new album.
Sorry to say but I still didn’t buy their new album for money reasons. Weh?! I don’t have spare money last night really. Weh?! Another thing is, I no longer listen to songs in CD’s as already have my Ipod. I basically download songs I like then create a playlist.
Sarah bought the signed album and told me, Kimpee and Ate Krisna (kimpee’s sister) that we must buy one to show our support to A1 but we didn’t listen to her. Haha. The three of us only planned on downloading their new songs. Hahaha. Kame na talaga ang namimirata! Haha.
When the time came for A1 to offer their last song, fans started screaming to them not to leave. As much as they want to stay longer, they can’t, because they have other countries to perform. Seeing them disappear in the darkness made us all sad and lose our minds.
Good thing Blue, another British boy band composed of Lee, Duncan, Simon and Antony who also rose in the 90’s also cheered the crowd wearing dashing suits and sang with their sweet but powerful voices their first song “Sorry seems to be the hardest word”. We all went back to our feet while listening to them sincerely singing their popular songs such as Too close, If you come back, Breathe Easy and All Rise. It was evident that this band did prepare for their performance as they have videos flashing simultaneously while they were singing. They even change costume for their second and the rest of their songs. Fans were energetic again in their performance, singing with them and responding to their fan service, screaming and giggling when they bid their goodbye on their fifth song. Yes, they only sang five songs leaving fans in strong astonishment.
They did an utterly sudden end to their show in which Sarah thought maybe was only a joke. It was confirmed wasn’t a joke when Blue didn’t come back out after few minutes and lights were turned off.
Many fans were dismayed by the ending of the concert. We had speculations on why such thing happened like Blue’s performance was cut short because A1 owned the stage for an hour. Also, we thought that the concert started late causing one of the performers to shorten their show who happened to be Blue. Well, we really didn’t know what happened there. All four of us planned on watching separate concerts of each boy bands next time so we won’t feel left hanging again.
Nevertheless, though the concert didn’t end as we expect it to be, it was all worth listening to these boy bands perform their greatest hits. We listened to three of the best 90’s boy bands in one night. We really saved a lot because of that.
Let me end this long blog post (soreeee ang haba!) thanking our Creator for giving me more than enough to reward myself with these sort of things. Before I can only dream to see my favorite idols in person, hearing them sing live but that dream came true last night. That definitely wouldn’t be possible without His grace and blessings. Thank you Lord! Please more blessings to come for more concerts to attend! Next time CN Blue and SNSD concert na! Hahaha.
